Meditation for beginners

A 5 week course offering an introduction to meditation, or as a refresher to return to practice.

This course provides an in-depth introduction to meditation, to guide you in understanding and developing the practice. Meditation has been scientifically proven to have a variety of health benefits, reduce stress, lift mood, improve sleep and mental clarity. Set within an intimate class to offer personal attention, meaning you get the most out of this course.

The course will cover:

Week 1: Introduction to Meditation    

 

Learning simple breathing techniques and the first steps to practice. Learn the effects various techniques have on our system and how they can be used to engage your natural soothe system. Dispelling meditation myths. Letting go of attachment and the monkey mind!

Week 2: Mindfulness & Buddhist Meditations                    

Roots of meditation in Buddhism, including Loving Kindness and Gratitude practices. Understanding mindfulness. Developing mindful listening with the healing quartz singing bowls

Week 3: Mind-Body connection

 

Evidence-based effects of meditation on health and emotional well-being. Gain an understanding into the biological reactions of our mindset. Extending practice to visualisation meditation.

Week 4: Body and Soul

 

Gain an understanding into the role of yoga in meditation. Developing Chakra, Mantra and Contemplation meditations. Use of Mudras.

Week 5: Developing your own practice

Dealing with barriers and how to retain a regular practice. Using aromatherapy in meditation, where you will have the opportunity to make your own essential oil spray. Extending practice to walking meditation and 20minute silent meditation.

Suitable for beginners of those wishing to develop a deeper practice.
